This year's Canadian Country Music Association awards will be co-hosted by Country superstar Thomas Rhett and Medicine Hat's own Mackenzie Porter.

The CCMA made an exciting announcement for the Saturday, September 14th award show which will be held in Edmonton at Rogers Place.

It's the first time the CCMAs have been in Alberta's capital city in ten years.

Rhett's superstar status is reflective of his 8x ACM and 2x CMA Award winners and his 16 number-one hits in Canada.

Mackenzie Porter is no slouch either having won 2 CCMAs in her young career.

Porter grew up on a bison ranch just outside of Medicine Hat and has seen her career take off over the last two years now that she's based out of Nashville.

Mackenzie's hit duet with Dustin Lynch 'Thinking 'Bout You' was number one for six weeks in the U.S. last year.

Her latest album 'Nobody's Born With a Broken Heart' is set for release on April 26 with plans to tour later this year with another country superstar Keith Urban.

She's also spent some time acting in the Netflix series 'Travelers' and AMC's 'Hell on Wheels'.

You might also remember her brother, Kalen Porter as the winner of Canadian Idol in 2004.

The CCMA has been around since 1976.
