A planned protest is set to take place in downtown High River on Wednesday.

It's not about Rimrock or the biodigester either; it's about an upcoming closed-door session with AHS and Foothills County Council.

Outspoken retired paramedic Don Sharpe is planning to be at the upcoming Foothills County Council meeting, along with other members of the Okotoks EMS Crisis Citizen Action Group.

Sharpe has been very outspoken about local ambulances being sent outside of our communities to assist in Calgary and elsewhere.

"Your ambulances are being taken to the city [Calgary], they're being used inappropriately for non-urgent transfers and they're often not available in the communities where they're required for critically ill and injured patients."

"And for the first time at Foothills County which includes High River, Okotoks, and Priddis and other small communities I think have been victimized repeatedly by Alberta Health EMS."

They plan on bringing signs starting at 9 a.m. with the scheduled closed-door meeting at 11 a.m.

The confidential closed session will be presented by AHS Calgary Zone Emergency Services.

AHS has also had closed-door meetings with the Town of Okotoks and the Town of Strathmore in recent weeks.
