With Spring here thoughts for many High River residents turn to flooding.

Carly Benson, the Town's Director of Emergency Management says, among other things, they've already started to get ready for the season by putting out portable pumps at various spots in Town

"That does include checking all the sandbags, making sure that the one's have disintegrated are being replaced. Making sure that they're going to perform the way they're designed. So, that work is now ongoing and I'm sure residents have seen crews out and about doing that."

Benson says despite all the work berming the Town the last few years, we can never completely think of ourselves as safe, and should always be prepared.

She says they're in almost constant contact with Alberta Environment and keep up to date on the latest developments with the mountain snowpack and river forecasting heading into flood season.

The Town will launch Emergency Preparedness Week, the first week of May.
