Former Okotoks Oiler, Rieger Lorenz is having himself a season with the University of Denver in the NCAA. Lorenz has put up 15 goals and 13 assists for 28 points in 43 games this season.

Lorenz has made himself comfortable with Denver producing 19 more points than his previous year with the team and playing in six more games as well.

When he was donning the Green and Gold, Lorenz put up a total of 87 points in 69 games throughout his three years with the team. Lorenz played for the Oilers from the 2019-2020 season to the 2021-2022 season, playing 60 games in his last season with the team.

The University of Denver moved on to the NCAA Frozen Four Finals after they took Boston University on April 11 to overtime and got a goal from Tristan Broz, Lorenz would get three shots on net during the contest. Denver won 2-1.

With Boston College winning their game on April 11, the finals will have Denver and Boston College going head-to-head for the NCAA championship in hockey.

The finals will be played in St. Paul Minnesota, at the Xcel Energy Centre, a place where Lorenz could get used to as he was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the second round with the 56 overall pick back in 2022.

Game time starts at 5:00 pm on Saturday (April 13).
