The Okotoks Oilers followed up their Wednesday night (April 10) win with another victory, but this time on the road, with the scoreboard reading 3-2 after the buzzer.

With the win, the Oilers go up 2-0 in their first-round series with the Spruce Grove Saints in the BCHL Alberta Division playoffs.

The Saints would sit former Oilers goaltender Alexander Scheiwiller after he allowed five goals the previous night. Spruce Grove instead started Ryan De Kok, who grew up in Okotoks and played minor hockey in the area.

The Saints would open the scoring 3:14 into the game, holding the lead until the final 39 seconds of the period.

That's when a breakout led by team captain Dean Spak would create a 3-on-2 rush with Connor Gourley and Owen MacNeil. After a pretty passing play made between Gourley and Spak, they would get the puck over to MacNeil who made no mistake and blasted the puck home tying the game at 1-1.

The Saints would regain their one goal lead just 41 seconds into the second period,

Oilers would answer just over 11 minutes later when Jack Silverberg poked the puck away from the Saints defenders having Jackson Rowland grab the loose puck and break out, with Silverberg following. Rowland found a wide-open Silverberg who would put it in the back of the net to make it a tie game once again.

The Green and Gold would get the game-winning goal from Jagger Tapper with a nice snap shot in the slot. He got help from Sam Huck and Ryder De Nys 2:18 into the third period.

Okotoks had solid goaltending from Christian Green who made 30 stops in the contest.

Oilers have now put pressure on the Saints to steal one at Centennial Arena on Saturday night (April 13) at 7:00.

If the Oilers win on Saturday night (April 13), they advance to the next round to face the Brooks Bandits.
