Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Foothills County.

The wind warning is in effect for Okotoks, High River, and Claresholm for May 7th, and came into effect at 2:18 p.m.

Strong northwest winds will gust up to 90 km/hour this afternoon but will weaken this evening.

Damage to buildings may occur, whether it's damage to roof shingles or windows, or caused by loose objects being tossed around by the wind.

Loose objects getting picked up by the wind gusts can also cause injuries to people or damage to vehicles or other items.

Motorists, especially those in taller vehicles like vans or buses, may expect dangerous conditions on the highways due to the strong cross winds.
