The Okotoks Film Festival held their launch party last Saturday, May 4, where they announced their lineup and played trailers for about half of the films playing at this year's festival.

"Basically, it's a hype event just to get people really excited about the Okotoks Film Festival," explains Festival Director Katie Fournell.

This event was held at Okotoks Cinemas, where people got to enjoy the trailers, chat with a few of the filmmakers, and enjoy free popcorn and pop.

The night helped to give people a taste of what to expect from the Film Fest.

At this year's festival, there are over 70 films to be enjoyed, and at the party on Saturday, crowds got to watch trailers for 39 of them.

"That's pretty on par for how many films we've had every year. The things that's not on par is how films we had to pick from," says Fournell. "This year, we had 909 films submitted to the Festival. So, our programmers went through all of those and selected the very best of those and that's what we're showing at the Festival."

There are films from everywhere around the world other than from Antarctica.

There will be a wide range of genres of films at the Festival, so there will be something for everyone.

"We just want to watch that we enjoy," Fournell adds.

The Film Festival will run from June 5th to 9th, and to learn more about the films being played, head over to their website.
