Even with Santa Claus making a pitstop in High River on Friday there's still a lack of snow around the Foothills but not for long.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada we're expecting a high of 17 degrees Celcius on Tuesday.

However, with chinooks it also means the winds expected to pick up too gusting up to 70 km/h in wind prone areas tomorrow.

Alysa Pederson, a meteorologist with Environment Canada said we have an upper ridge bringing Chinook warmth and winds to the foothills on Tuesday.

She warns though that we can expect a bit of a weather whiplash as we're expecting the warmth to be short-lived as we could see 15 to 20 cm of snow by Thursday.

Tuesday's overnight low will drop to -2° with a high of 6° on Wednesday and only -1° by Thursday with snow expected.
