Points Of Light back at High River Hospital

For nearly 30 years, the High River District Health Care Foundation's Points Of Light display has brightened the spirits of patients and their families.

It's back again this year with donations going to spiritual care at the hospital.

Peggy Wiens' father passed away at the hospital earlier in the year and she spoke about what Points of Light means.

"The brilliance of the bulbs reminds us, I think, of the memories that have for the loved ones that we've lost this year and I think it also binds all of us together because we realize that we're not alone in that, there are so many that are going to be having maybe a difficult time just with the loss but I think just the warmth of that light and the brightness of the bulbs reminds us that they still live on in us and we're brought together by that."

She was at the tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday with her mother and family.

The Foundation invited families who have lost a loved one and honoured them with tributes through the Points Of Light to join in the tree lighting and add a personal ornament of their own to the tree.

The star atop the tree is lit each year in memory of Dr. Len Senger, a physician at the hospital who passed away suddenly in 1995.

Alice Senger and her daughter Claire Senger were on hand along with Claire's son George for the lighting.
