The Nanton RCMP is hosting a townhall meeting on March 11th, and residents and business representatives from Nanton, the M.D. of Ranchlands, M.D. of Willow Creek and Parkland are invited to attend.

During the meeting, people are able to connect with the RCMP to find out what they have been up to for the last year.

"So, we're going to look at some crime statistics, some self-generated statistics that the members and myself have generated this year," explains Corporal Tom Nairn with the Nanton RCMP. "And projects we've done in town and in the rural communities we serve."

Cpl. Nairn says that because the RCMP fiscal year runs from April to April, they will also be asking the public to help identify new policing priorities they think the cops should target for the 2024 fiscal year.

The RCMP will also do a presentation on fraud and fraud awareness and how community members can keep themselves safe from fraud.

On top of the RCMP, Peace Officer Carlos Faria with the Nanton Municipal Enforcement will be in attendance to do a presentation about his job and what he has achieved.

In addition to that, the Nanton Fire Chief John Dozeman will speak about the Nanton Fire Department and what they have done throughout the year.

The Nanton RCMP tries to host these town hall events twice a year, with one happening in October, and the other in March.

The Townhall meeting on March 11th will happen at 6 p.m. at the Kozy Korner, and there will be coffee and doughnuts provided to those who show up.
