The Lomond Lakers may not have had the season they were hoping for but they are excited for next year.

The Lakers played the majority of their season at home out of the Vulcan and Claresholm arenas but will have a new arena to call home for next year.

Lakers General Manager Brad Koch says they are all ready to build the arena and are just waiting for some warmer weather.

"The rink has been ordered it should be here anytime, once the frost comes out, they're talking sooner rather than later, work will start right away, they gotta rip up some cement, put new cement down and once the building goes up, it won't take long for the building to go up it will just be the finishing of the inside that takes some time. Hopefully, by October first we'll be in there."

Koch says the biggest thing for his team is where the rink is located.

"I've said this before, our players want to play in Lomond, that's where this team is supposed to be coming out of. I think that will make a big difference in recruiting."

Koch says he's proud of the team for not giving up all year regardless of the end result.

"No one quit on us, I've heard lots of players around the league are going from losing teams to winning teams, these players want to be on winning teams, I never had that problem of kids up and quitting, they've always been committed one hundred percent, and they've never complained about it, they just keep coming out, that's one thing I've really looked at is the commitment to our players and coaching staff, sure we know it was a tough year but things are looking up and things will get better.
