Cupcakes for Kitties was held on Monday, Feb 24th and after all the sweet treats the numbers are in for the Nanton Animal Protection Society.

Between the High River and Nanton locations over $1,700 dollars were raised in support of NAPS' Farmer/Rancher Spay and Neuter Program.

Shelter Manager for N.A.P.S. Theresa Orchard says the program is to help farmers control their cats.

"It helps the farmers and ranchers with their existing cats out at their place because most farmers or ranchers do not neuter their cats and then kitten season gets to be really crazy."

Orchard says advertising for next year should help boost some of the funds earned in High River.

"I think a little bit more advertising, I think next year should be a better go at it because people will be a bit more aware of it."

High River did put forth a decent chunk of donations at around 400 dollars despite this being their first year doing "Cupcakes for Kitties".
