High River council has taken a step forward with its Good Neighbour bylaw.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says there was only one formal submission at the public hearing last week and he's gotten a few calls and inquiries about it.

"People like the bylaw, I think it's well written and clarifies a number of different things better than previous ones did, so it's good to have the public hearing done and we'll move on from there," he says. "Everybody's always concerned about unsightly premises, you know people storing household goods just out on their front lawn, there's a couple in town that kind of need to be cleaned up and dealt with, they're not looking good and it's been that way for months and months now."

The bylaw also deals with noise, snow removal, unsightly premises and graffiti.

Mayor Snodgrass says administration's going over the final details to make sure it's easily enforceable.

"It's great to have a bylaw but we've got to have a team that's willing to enforce this bylaw," Snodgrass says.

He says administration will go over it to make sure definitions and other points are spelled out so that it can be enforced properly.
