October is distracted driving prevention month.

The Canadian Automobile Association's Director of Communications, Christine Niemczyk says their campaign is focused on younger drivers, what they're calling Gen-Z with their Unplug and Drive campaign.

"They know that distracted driving is wrong yet through the studies we know that one in six young Canadians still have admitted to driving distracted," she says. "Distracted driving is much more than just texting, it also means they're using the phone for music apps, maps, messaging apps and social media."

According to the CAA distracted driving is anything that takes a drivers eyes and mind off the road.

A quarter of Canadians surveyed say they've noticed an increase in the number of people using their phones while driving.
