The Fire Restriction in Foothills County has been downgraded to a Fire Advisory.

Recent rainfall and upcoming forecasts have led to a change in conditions, and Foothills Fire Chief Rick Saulnier notified the county of the change on Monday.

Open fires are now allowed for those with permits.

Fire Advisories are different from Fire Restrictions and Fire Bans, and while fewer rules around fire are associated with Advisories, locals are asked to use caution while burning and to soak the area around the fire.

The Fire Advisory does not apply to Okotoks or High River, and neither town currently has any fire restrictions in place.
