A six and a half hour marathon game last night, July 18th resulted in a win for the Okotoks Dawgs.

There was eight pitching changes and 17 innings in the series final against the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

The Dawgs were originally up by five, and leading 6-1 until the Mavericks rallied and matched their every move.

In the 17th inning the Dawgs finally overcame the exhausted Mavericks bullpen to tie the game in the bottom of the 16th and then closed the contest with a bases load walk from Liam Rihela.

The Dawgs won 9-8 over the Mavericks at roughly 1:30 a.m. Friday July 19th.

Hopefully they can comfortable sleep on the bus as they head to Melville Saskatchewan to take on the Melville Millionaires for a three game away series.

Game one in that series starts tonight, July 19th.
