Emergency Alerts and Phone Screens lit up for the evening on July 18, 2019.

Around 5:20 p.m. Environment Canada issued a Tornado Warning for Vulcan County and the village of Lomond after a small tornado was seen south east of Lomond and was recorded moving south east at about 50 km/h.

Alerts were advising area residents to seek shelter immediately in basements.

Environment Canada says it's a good idea to put as many walls as possible between you and the storm and to avoid windows.

Drivers were being cautioned to pull over and lay flat in the ditches.

The alerts were cancelled about 30 minutes later as the storm moved off.

Large hail and heavy winds were reported with the storm in Airdrie and Calgary as well.

As of July 15, 2019 the Weather Agency has reported that Alberta has seen 12 confirmed tornadoes, which is higher than average.
