Cochrane RCMP has advised motorists to use caution today as they head West on Highway 1

This is in response to the Carbon Tax rally that began on April 1st and is set up at the Highway 1 and Highway 22 intersections.

This is one of numerous rallies held across Canada and organized by the Nationwide Protest Against Carbon Tax in response to the Carbon Tax increase implemented on April 1st.

Even though the rally organizers asked their participants to leave one lane of traffic open to the public, by the late afternoon on April 1st, Cochrane RCMP was having to divert traffic from Highway 1 onto other routes.

While the Cochrane RCMP issued an update around 7:30 p.m. on April 1 saying all lanes were open it appears the rally is ongoing again today, Tuesday, April 2.
