A cancer support centre in Calgary hopes to move at least a little bit closer to the foothills.

Wellspring Calgary's Executive Director, Patti Morris says they started out near the Tom Baker Cancer Centre but have expanded south and are working toward setting up near the South Calgary Health Campus.

"We're so lucky now to have that cancer centre in High River and it's nice to be able to offer something that's a lot closer, it's still not right in the community but it so much closer hopefully for people to be able to benefit from these other resources," Morris says. "As busy as we are here at Carma House, there are many more people who live in communities like High River and even in Calgary but live quite a distance from Carma House who find it too difficult to get to us."

They provide no charge, no referral peer support for anyone going through cancer or their caregivers, inluding knowledgable speakers, a young adult stream and help with thing like navigating the system and returning to work.
