The Government of Alberta will now send grant money to non-profit organizations through E-Transfers and not by cheque through the mail.

E-transfers allow the province to distribute community grant dollars to non-profit organizations much faster.

In the past non-profit organizations could wait up to a hundred days to receive their grant money from the government via cheque, with e-transfers that time is significantly reduced to about a week after notifications are sent out.

Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women, Leela Aheer says non-profit organizations are a beacon of hope for Albertans, and the faster and more efficient funding can get to them the better.

"Alberta's non-profit organizations are beacons of hope in our communities. Getting grant funding into the hands of our community organizations in a timely, efficient manner will help them hit the ground running in planning and carrying out projects that improve the lives of all Albertans'." Aheer said in a statement.

This payment switch-over is one of the many strategies the UCP have been implementing to combat, and cut down on red tape.
