The Do More Ag Foundation and Farm Credit Canada are once again offering funds to help support mental health training in rural areas.

Executive Director for the Do More Ag Foundation Adele Stewart says they are now accepting applications for the Community Fund lottery based program to bring mental health training to rural centre’s all across Canada.

“We were able to reach and take training to twelve communities in year one. Now focusing on year two, we are going to at least double, if not more of that reach.  Reach more communities across Canada in those rural centres so individual producers have the skills to be able to assist, recognize mental illness and support each other.”

She says they are now accepting applications for this years program.

“What we aim to do is build those communities out, so they can have conversations.  With the Mental Health First Aid Responders they would be certified. Have them be able to start those conversations and then support someone who is struggling until they can reach appropriate care.”

Interested individuals can apply online at the Do More Ag Foundation website, applications are now being accepted until Thursday, October 10.
