The High River Flyers will get back into the saddle Friday, October 4, after getting bucked off the horse with three straight losses last weekend.

They open a home and home series with the Cochrane Generals and Flyers Coach Colten Hayes says fans need to be patient with the Flyers slow start.

"We're trying to develop our young players and it's going to be a process. But I hope the fans in High River see the improvement. The scores from last week don't really reflect how we played. You know Medicine Hat was a close game. It was a one goal game with an empty net. And then Strathmore, we sort of ran into penalty trouble, same as Airdrie."

Both teams are struggling out of the gate with the Flyers at 0-4-and-1, while the Generals are 1-and-3.

Hayes says desperation can make for some good hockey.

"I know they're going to be looking for a win just as bad as we are. But you know hopefully we pack the rink Friday and make it pretty loud in there and at the end of the day if we come back with two wins then everything gets reset and re-focused."

Game one in the home and home is Friday in High River at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex starting at 8 p.m.

And in Okotoks, the hometown Bisons welcome Strathmore starting at 8 at the Murray Arena.
