Beautiful weather greeted volunteers at High River's 20th annual Spring cleaning of the town.
Green Sweep got underway at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 4 with some hot chocolate and coffee to take the chill off the wind but the sunshine was out in full force.
Darlene Donovan, Town of High River's Parks and Facilities Supervisor, says volunteers were greeted with gratitude and gifts.
"We do have some Green Sweep water bottles to offer to folks, we got lunch, and coffee and juice and we're really lucky to have some beautiful weather."
Donovan adds that it was nice seeing long-time volunteers like Highwood Lions Club volunteer Doug Elliott or Mary Ann Dearing with Sheppard Family Park.
"We definitely enjoy this time of year. It's a great way to get the community involved to clean up the parks and get them all ready for the start of the season."
The event was hosted at the east side parking lot at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.
Thanks go out to the High River and District Seniors Friendship Centre too for cleaning up the bocce area in George Lane Park.
There were also recycling bins set up in the parking lot for anyone who wanted to drop them off.
Waiving fees at the Foothills Regional Landfill were also waived from May 2-4.
