Chuckwagon season gets going for real starting Wednesday, May 29 in Grande Prairie at the Stompede.

High River's Jason Glass has been training in the Swan City for the last few days and says he's as ready as he'll ever be.

But he's got some big changes to his outfit this year.

"This year's going to be a little different for us. We've got six new horses up here. Got a bunch of new ones and it's kind of a bit of a rebuild. So, we're just mixing and matching and trying to put together some outfits here while we're training that's going to be a very interesting start to the year."

He says the Stompede is one of his favourite races of the season.

"Yeah, Grande Prairie's a big event for us. You know they've got good prize money up here, great crowds. It is a five day event on a full 5/8's mile track. I just kind of have to figure everything out. How much these horses are ready to go and what needs to go with what. So, yeah, it's a lot of fun and I can't wait to get going."

Glass, fellow High River driver, Jordie Fike and Okotoks Mark Sutherland are all looking for big years in the WPCA this season.

The races run through to the "Dash for Cash" final, Sunday, June 2, at Evergreen Park.
