Seems the Calgary Stampede's loss is the High River Ag Society's gain.

The president of the Ag Society, Tanya Froh, says there's been a lot of interest shown in the Battle of the Foothills Chuckwagon Races.

"I think it's been a week or two since we announced the actual event, and we've had so much social media attention. We actually got our tickets online Friday, so we are selling and we are so happy. The ticket sales are phenomenal."

Unless the province goes back on the re-opening plan, there will be no restrictions on how many people can come to cheer on their favourite wagons.

"Since they've been very certain that we'd be opening on July 1, it seems quite likely that there will be no reneging on that promise, so we have been able to go ahead and open up our full capacity so there's no seating restrictions. It's full steam ahead."

The races go July 16-18 and July 23-25 at the Ag Grounds.

Froh says tickets are available at the Ag Society's website.
