Livingstone-MacLeod Wildrose MLA Pat Stier says he's open to the idea of merging with Alberta's Progressive Conservatives.

He says the door is open, but it's the PC's who'll have to make the first move.

"We think this is the best way to go into a future election, with having all Albertans' voices in one party. We certainly offered to meet and talk with the other party. But unfortunately the PC's decided they didn't want to do that."

He says in the meantime they're the Official Opposition and will continue to operate as such.

Stier was one of the few Wildrose members to not jump ship to the PC's two years ago in a move many thought would wipe out the Party.
