Residents of Nanton who've had some vehicle trouble may recognize the name "Tonka" and will be excited to hear Tonka is making its way to show business.

Filming for "Bungalow" began in Nanton earlier this year and Southern Alberta Towing's Jodie Hennigar says they were approached by the filming company who were looking for a truck to play a special role.

"The Film Company had actually reached out to us, we were recommended by two locals out of Nanton because the film needed a tow truck"

Hennigar says the truck has a bit of a reputation in Nanton.

"Tonka, our 2002 GMC C6500 is a very well-known tow truck within the Nanton area, One of our staff members Chris says he was the one who coined the truck "Tonka" saying it reminded him of the first time he played with one of his Tonka Trucks as a kid."

Tonka played the obvious role in the film towing away a vehicle, Hennigar says being behind the scenes was a cool experience and they are excited to see their truck on the big screen.

"That was a neat thing to watch, everything behind the scenes, how they set everything up it was kinda cool to see all that happen."

Southern Alberta Towing has been told they will get a special copy of the film when it is completed for helping out.
