The High River Flyers, and those that donated to the food bank at the team's golf tournament Friday are seeing bang for their buck Tuesday.

Team President Mike Bliss surprised Salvation Army Lieutenant Kelly Fifield Tuesday morning with a cheque for a little over $1,100.

FIfield says the cash, plus the physical donation of food from the Flyers will make a difference, but they still need the communities help.

"The funds that we've been able to receive today, definitely will go a long way in helping us fill some of these shelves. This year knowing that demands have been up have definitely made an increase in our needing to be able to put food on our shelves."

She says she understands with summer here, people are putting their money towards other things, but that doesn't take away from the needs of others in the community.

The team raised the money during their golf tournament last Friday and Bliss says they wanted to get it into the hands of the Salvation Army as quickly as possible.

"We raised money for the team during the tourney and that's the main goal. But we certainly like to help out as many charities as we can. The Eli Gosselin Scholarship Fund got some money, the Food Bank got some actual donated food as well. So, you know we're happy to help out in any way we can."

Fifield says they'll put the cash to immediate use, as they had just placed a large order with the High River No-Frills, and will use the cash to pay the bill.
