Fire crews were busy Monday responding to grass fires in High River, Okotoks and Black Diamond.

Two grass fires burned up 20 acres of grass and pasture land west of Okotoks Monday afternoon.

The fires could be seen along Highway 7 south of the "Big Rock" but other than some burnt grass, no real damage was done.

Despite the fire being close to the highway, no official cause for the blaze has been determined yet.

Another, smaller fire was snuffed out quickly by the High River Fire Department on the Town's southwest edge, just on the west side of 72 Street, south of 12 Avenue.

Okotoks Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says the Black Diamond area also had a grass fire to deal with that Okotoks fire fighters helped put out.

There's been a fire ban in place in the MD of Foothills since March 11 because of the extremely dry conditions in the area.
