A sure sign of summer are all of the outdoor markets and the tractor trailer full of fresh fruit and vegetables brought in from BC that sits tucked in between 7-11 and Fas Gas in High River.

Owner and Operator Dan Deacon from Vernon BC says he's been making the trip for a while now.

"This is my thirty-first year this year and we've been around a long time. We try and sell the best quality fruit at a reasonable price."

He says almost everything is early this year but adds although the season came on fast it's going to be a really good season.

"Everything is about three to four weeks early. Cherries are going to end early. They start early and they end early. We're thinking probably until the end of July, usually I'll have them until September but not this year."

He says one of his biggest sellers are still peaches and cherries but adds he also has a wide selection of fresh berries, preserves and vegetables available for sale.

"Most popular is cherries and peaches. People still like to can peaches so we sell a lot of peaches, and we do sell a lot of cherries too. berries is another very popular item like raspberries and strawberries."

He says this year people can now pay with debit and credit cards for added convenience and adds he'll be making the trip into town every Thursday until the end of September.
