This afternoon you can learn more about High River's upcoming community gardens at the open house from 4-8 p.m. at the town hall.

Parks and Culture Coordinator Sarah Mitchell says it's a chance for people to learn more about the project and get involved.

"What we're going to have is some design proposals for what both of the gardens are going to look like. We also have some information about community gardens in general. And, if people want to put their names forward in order to get a plot, we'll have that information available as well."

She says they are also looking for volunteers.

"If there's anyone who's interested in volunteering when it comes time to set up the gardens or even donate supplies or skilled labour to the project, we certainly welcome them to attend as well."

Mitchell says they hope to hear what people think about the designs they have so far.

"We're looking for their input on the design proposals that we have. We've got two designs that we've put together for both locations. Nothing is concrete yet, but we do welcome people's feedback."

One garden will be built along Riverside Drive, and the other will be in Mclaughlin Meadows.

If anyone is unable to attend the open house or would like more information, they are encouraged to contact the High River town offices.
