An 11 year old child has been injured in a Pincher Creek Hutterite Colony, after being accidentally shot.

Pincher Creek RCMP responded to a call for assistance at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, April 22 on the Pincher Creek Hutterite Colony.

After initial investigation police say a 13 year old child was playing with a loaded .22 caliber pistol when it unintentionally discharged and hit an 11 year old in the chest.

The child was stabilized and then transferred to the Calgary Children's Hospital where they will receive further treatment.

RCMP have confirmed there was no adult supervision when the incident happened, and they are investigating the safety and storage of the firearm.
