Alberta students made their voices heard in the Alberta 2019 student vote.

Recent results show that the UCP won a majority government with 49 seats. The NDP forms the official opposition with 35 seats, and The Alberta Party won 3 seats.

of course these results aren't official, but the schools participating in the vote, made it seem very real for the students involved.

Students were asked to learn about democracy and what it means to be an informed citizen. They had to research parties, find their platforms and take part in debate about this elections big issues. When the big day came, students all cast a vote for their chosen candidates and parties.

More than 160,000 elementary and high school students participated throughout the province, and as of 4:00 p.m. April 16, 1,229 schools had reported their election results. All 87 electoral divisions were represented and 165,527 ballots were cast.

In our riding of Livingston Macleod A.B. Daley Community School, Brant Christian School, Canyon Elementary School, Cayley School, Crowsnest Consolidated High School, F.P. Walshe High School, Granum School, Highwood High School, Holy Spirit Academy, Isabelle Sellon Elementary School, J.T. Foster School, Livingstone School, Longview School, Matthew Halton High School, Notre Dame Collegiate, Stavely School, West Meadow School, Willow Creek Composite High School and École Senator Riley took part in the vote.

In the Livingston-Macleod riding went to the UCP with Roger Reid taking the MLA position, In Banff-Kananaskis Cam Westhead wins for the Alberta NDP, in the Highwood Riding, RJ Sigurdson takes a seat in the legislature. In the Cardston-Siksika riding students voted in Joseph Schow with the UCP.  Chestermere-Strathmore students voted in Leela Aheer for the UCP.

Rachel Notley's New Democratic Party took 35 seats and would form an official opposition, receiving 30.3 per cent of the popular vote. According to the mock vote, Notley won in her electoral division of Edmonton-Strathcona with 52.1% of the vote. Stephen Mandel's Alberta Party won 3 seats and received 18.5% of the vote. Mandel was defeated in his electoral division of Edmonton-McClung. Despite receiving 5.3% of the vote, the Alberta Liberal Party did not win any seats. Leader David Khan was defeated in his electoral division of Calgary-Mountain View.
