A couple of locals are in the hunt at the Alberta Open at the Wolf Creek Golf Club in Ponoka this week.

Wes Martin from Okotoks and Sam Kirkness from Priddis Greens both shot even par 71's on day one Tuesday, July 28, to tie for 10th spot.

The other nine players ahead of them are all in red numbers, including a pair from Glencoe in Jakob Chicoyne and Evan Holmes, who both shot 4-under 67's.

Six time Alberta Champ, Wes Heffernan, is three shots back at 1-under.

They're back on the course for day two Wednesday, July 29, with the tournament wrapping up Thursday, July 30.
