The High Flyers took game one in the best of three series against the Strathmore Wheatland Kings 5 to 1.

It's the quarter finals in the Heritage B Junior Hockey League.

The Wheaties opened the scoring at the 5:13 mark on the power play but the Flyers answered right back less than 30 seconds later.

The Flyers went on to score two more goals in the second period and two more in the third.

Cole St-Amand had a three point night with three helpers while Braden Burke scored twice and Michael McTighe added a goal and an assist.

There was also a fight in the second period with Flyers Connor Minchin going toe-to-toe with Jake Johnston. Minchin received a 10 minute match penalty.

Chance Vinck picked up the win for the Flyers stopping 24 of 25 shots.

Strathmore is the site of game two tonight and if the Flyers don't wrap it up, then game three comes back to High River Sunday afternoon for a 4 p.m. puck drop.
