Culix Tarsalis has been found in the Foothills.

These are the mosquitoes that carry the west nile virus.

Nicole Roy, West Nile Virus Study Director for the area says there are no signs of any human, bird or horse cases in the MD of Foothills.

"...carriers of the virus were found in Dewinton, High River, Black Diamond, Millarville and the Priddis area. That doesn't neccessarily mean that there is west nile in the area just that the carrier is here so if one of the migratory birds - crows, magpies or blue jays come into the area then the culix tarsalis will take a feed/blood sample from them and possible carry it onto other humans."

Roy reccomends constantly changing still bodies of water in your yards or on your property.

Recently a dead bird found in Brooks contained the west nile virus.
