The Town of Okotoks sent out another update on the safety of the town's water following yesterday's (Aug. 15) boil water advisory.

After some locals voiced concerns that they had ingested water earlier that day or before they were aware of the advisory, the town wants to assure residents that all the water in the system yesterday was treated and safe.

AHS and Alberta Environment & Parks issued the boil water advisory for parts of northern Okotoks out of an abundance of caution.

Several neighbourhoods are serviced by the impacted reservoirs.

Areas affected include D’Arcy Ranch, partial areas of Sandstone, Crystal Shores, Wedderburn, Crystal Green, Air Ranch (including Ranchers Rise), parts of Crystal Ridge, Suntree, and Towerhill.

Alberta Emergency Alerts released another update at 1:23 p.m. noting critically low levels in the reservoirs due to loss in water pressure within the town's water system.

A mandatory outdoor water ban is still in effect for Okotoks, and only affects the use of water outside.
