Sorting through two dozen Okotoks council candidate platforms can be a daunting task, but there's an event this Thursday that could help.

Dawn LeMaistre, the executive director of the Okotoks & District Chambers of Commerce, says they decided to go with an open house format

With 24 council candidates running for the six positions available on council, trying to do a debate-style forum didn't seem feasible.

"So what we've created is an opportunity for Okotoks residents and business owners to come out and meet the councillors, put a face to the name and give the councillors an opportunity to get in front of as many people at the open house as possible."

It's taking place at the Foothills Centennial Centre on Thursday, Oct. 7, from 4 p.m. until 9, with 4 to 5 set aside for seniors only.

"The facility is on capacity restriction. They are not on the REP program, so we will not be asking for proof of vaccination for any attendees. But we are limited on the number of attendees that are allowed in the building at any given time, so we're allowed 200 residents."

It's a first come, first serve style of event, and people should come prepared to wait outside for entrance if necessary.
