Canadian Olympic Swimmer and two time medallist, Ryan Cochrane, paid a visit to the High River Tigers Swim Club Thursday, October 13.

Cochrane who won Silver and Bronze medals in the 1500-metres in the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Games says for him making the rounds of swim clubs from coast to coast is simply a matter of giving back.

"You start to look at what you want your legacy to be in sport. So actually having the time after these games to come to these communities, hopefully inspire young athletes. Just hopefully to get them to stay in the sport longer. To love the sport more. To inspire them over the next year plus, hopefully and it's been so far."

Cochrane gives some of the kids some pointers before they jump in the pool.

Cochrane was the Co-Captain of Canada's Olympic swim team at this year's Rio games, but failed to make the podium in the men's 400 metres, and wound up sixth in the men's 1500 metres.

If he had medalled he would have been the first Canadian to ever have medalled in three different Olympic Games.

About 25 kids from the club were on hand for the event which had Cochrane passing down his experiences and giving the young swimmers an insight into what it takes to make the Olympic team.
