Now that they're back in school, many children will face greasy cafeteria food and junk from vending machines.

Charity Alcocer with the Calgary Health Region recommends keeping the kitchen stocked with a wide variety of unprocessed foods so kids can make their own lunches.  This encourages them to make responsible choices early on and increases the chance they'll eat what you send.

Alcocer says it all starts at the grocery store by "ensuring that there is a good variey of whole wheat grain products, fresh or canned fruit, and vegetables."

She also recommends they take foods from at least three of the four food groups.
