The Okotoks Oilers of the BCHL took on the Spruce Grove Saints on Saturday night (March. 9) after playing less than 24 hours earlier in an overtime loss to the Brooks Bandits.

Oilers captain Dean Spak would open the scoring with a nice tip on Brody Maguire's shot just two minutes into the frame. That would unfortunately be the only tally the Oilers could get all game. Shots were in the favour of the Oilers with 11 shots for and 10 shots against. The Saints would tie the game up with 10 seconds left in the first period.

The Saints didn't let up piling on the shots with 16 in the second and another 14 in the third with a final shot total of 40. The Oilers, however, finished the game with only 25 shots on target.

Sherwood Park would score the winning goal early in the third period and then cement the win with an empty net goal in the final minute of the game, with a final score of 3-1.

The Green Army plays at home again on Friday night (March 15) as they host the Sherwood Park Crusaders at the Centennial Arena at 7:00.
