The Okotoks Dawgs saw their season come to another premature end over the weekend.

Manager Mitch Schmidt says overall he was happy with the regular season, but not happy with falling short in the playoffs.

"Better timely hitting. Our pitching did pretty well. Very, very satisfied with a couple of the outings we had. We did not get the timely hits that we needed. That's playoff baseball!"

Schmidt says despite finishing well below them in the standings the Edmonton Prospects, were a much more season post-season team, which he says made all the difference.

He says his team wasn't sure what to expect in the playoffs, and it showed.

He says they'll use this experience next year, and will be better because of it.

Schmidt says he and his assistants will all be back with the Dawgs again next season.
