After working through the pandemic, which had a huge impact on their reserves, the Salvation Army is looking to the community to help them re-stock their shelves.

On Thursday, June 11th The Salvation Army along with GM Mechanical, AM 1140 and Sun Country 99.7 will be at Sobeys to collect food donations to help re-fill the shelves.

Lieutenant Chad Cole says they had larger than usual numbers of people asking for help during the pandemic and are hopeful of being able to return to a more comfortable spot

"A lot of people were looking for help, we were operating at just over double of our normal operating capacity for a couple of months, it seems to have tapered down now that people are getting back to work so its time to recover, and this food drive is coming at a perfect time."

Cole says those who want to help can either stop by Sobeys and get a list of items they are in search of or they can visit the Salvation Army's Facebook page to see the same list.

The "Food Mountain" food drive runs from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. at Sobeys in High River.
