Local Rivers Thankful for Rain

A lack of mountain water runoff hasn't dried out the Sheep River or the Highwood.

Natural runofff volumes from March to August this year are down with the lowest on record throughout the province, but Julie siddons with Alberta Environment says the Bow Valley basin had help from the rain.

"We've actually already exceeded our September water levels and that's because of all the rainfall that we've bee seeing," she said.  "So we're actually in a pretty good position right now."

Siddons says the Sheep and Highwood rivers are both flowing at their average speeds.
