Golf season is coming early to the Foothills this year.

Many courses, including River's Edge near Okotoks will open for the season in about a week's time.

Head Pro Kim Wilkowich says they're aiming for April 1, which he says is the among the earliest they've ever opened.

"It is. Probably about two weeks ahead of our normal time frame. But, having said that, I remember one year about 20 years ago we actually opened up in mid-March. It's a good sign. People are starving for golf and they're getting their wishes here."

Highwood is set to open March 31, while Nanton will open Friday, April 8, but will open their driving range this (April 26) weekend.
