QR codes are already being put to use but will soon be mandatory.

Donna Racette, with Okotoks client services, says they've already been using the verifier app at their Restrictions Exemption Program facilities, the Pason and rec centre.

"As of November 15th, the only valid proof of vaccination that we are supposed to accept as an operator of the REP program will be a vaccine record with the QR code."

She says the QR code verification is very difficult to forge.

"And one thing that’s important to note about the verifier app from the Alberta government is that the reason for it is that it is a much more secure proof of vaccination."

Albertans can access their vaccine records at alberta.ca/CovidRecords and can also get a printed version at local registry agencies or via 811.
