The teen lab in the new Okotoks library is being outfitted with help from a provincial grant.

A matching grant of just under $26,000 was awarded to the Okotoks library via the province's Community Initiatives Program.

Library Director Lara Grunow says "This money will allow us to outfit it with furniture, equipment, books, and supplies that's going to encourage teens to explore new skills, creativity, collaboration, and hopefully involve a lot of community engagement."

They're also looking at fitting it with a sound booth for things like music and podcasting, as well as computers and video game consoles.

With two schools in arms reach, Grunow says it's sure to be put to good use.

"With us being part of the campus, also having Christ the Redeemer's St. Luke's school, and then with Cameron Crossing moving into part of the current library location, it'll be great that we can provide accessible resources for their students to come into the library and use our facility."

She says it'll be quite an upgrade from their current space.

"In our current library, our teen space is very small. We're busting out of the seams, so we just don't have the ability to add the cool things we want to do. This money and the new building us providing us that fantastic space."
