The Province of Alberta is rolling out a new tool to make it easier to apply for the child care subsidy.

The new online application site allows parents to easily check if they are eligible and apply for the child care subsidy using any computer, tablet or smart phone.

Minister of Children’s Services, Rebecca Schulz, says it will mean less paperwork, emails and phone calls, reducing red tape and allowing staff to focus more time on supporting children and families.

One parent who tested it, says the online application lets you know if you are eligible and estimates how much you'll receive right on the spot.

Parents access the service using a "myalberta digital id" to ensure their information and personal privacy are safe and secure.
