Longview could be home to a new rodeo venue if a couple of well-known cowboys have their say.

John Scott and Chad Besplug took their proposal to Foothills County council.

Besplug says it's been in the works for awhile.

"Last year right when the world shut down we had the time and decided we were going to build our own venue, so I was fortunate enough to partner with John on it and we started plans around this time last year and by the end of July we had an outdoor arena put together and we did a couple of private events out there on a much smaller scale towards the end of the summer," he says.

He says they hope to eventually host full-time shows four times a year with about two thousand people at each.

Besplug says the last year's been a challenge.

"It's just such a change in pace from what we're used to, normally right now we'd have events going on and we're traveling around trying to get things ready to go, so it has been a huge change in pace," he says. "Obviously we miss it, we love doing events and love the sport and being around it so it's been a long time without too much of that so we'll be excited to get back to normal."

He says Foothills council could have a decision for them any day now.
