Okotoks town council received December's emergency medical services' (EMS) response times update at their Jan. 22 meeting.

The report breaks down the number of medical calls, calls responded to, and the response times from a given month.

These reports first started being presented to council in 2022 in order to gauge the level in which EMS response times were affecting local fire services.

In December of 2023, Okotoks Fire & Rescue (OFR) responded to 43 medical calls, with OFR personnel arriving at 25 of them before EMS did.

The cumulative wait time for EMS services was two hours and four minutes, a considerable decrease from November's four hours, but not the lowest of the year by any means.

As well as statistics from December, the report included highlights from the rest of 2023.

Across 2023, OFR personnel arrived at medical scenes before EMS in 259 of 568 medical calls.
